About
Hello my name is Vrajesh Ruparelia. I am the owner of a prosperous dental practice in the historic town of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire.
Brief overview of the practice
The practice was set up in March 1997 when I moved to the current premises at 11 Barton Street, Tewkesbury. It was an empty building formerly an estate agents. It was gutted and converted into a dental practice from October 1996 to March 1997 and christened Tewkesbury Dental Practice. Prior to that I was an expense sharing partner in another practice in town with two other dentists, when this expense sharing arrangement was dissolved in March 1997 I transferred my goodwill of patients to this building. From 1997 till September 2000 I was seeing mainly NHS patients with a few Private and Capitation patients under Denplan. After September 2000 I was beginning to convert the practice to private seeing Adult patients under Denplan or fee per item and children under the NHS still. After April 2006 following the new dental contract I converted fully to private all patients are seen privately either fee per item or under a capitation scheme as Denplan Care, Denplan Essentials or Denplan Plans for Children.
I am the sole self employed dental practitioner together with staff of one full time Manager/Receptionist/Nurse, one part-time Nurse/Receptionist and One part time Receptionist. I work 38 hours a week clinic time with one evening slot working till 7.30 pm and early finish (1/2 day) on a Friday.
I provide a full range of general and cosmetic treatments with referral out for patients requiring Implants, Orthodontitics (Braces), and complicated surgery on their teeth. I provide treatment for wrinkle reduction and facial rejuvenation with Botox and dermal fillers together with facial peels. I also train other doctors, dentists and nurses on the local anaesthetic techniques in facial aesthetics.
After taking my A levels I opted to read for a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology at the University of Liverpool while I was deciding on a career in either dentistry or medicine. I qualified with an Honours degree in Physiology in 1988. Thereafter I was accepted as dental student at Guy’s Hospital in London. I qualified as a dental surgeon with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1992. My first year post graduation as a dental surgeon I spent in a general dental practice in Herefordshire as a Vocational Dental Practitioner working with two other dentists. It was then that I decided to form a career in general practice. So I joined a practice in Tewkesbury as an expense sharing partner with two other dentists in January 1994. I stayed there for three years and then moved to my current practice in March 1997 under a 15 year lease. In April 2008 11 years into the Lease I was approached by the Landlords with an offer to purchase the freehold of the building and this is where I stand at the present time.
